Nessebur (Nessebar) tourist info and hotels

Nessebur

Nessebur is a sea town, located along a beautiful isthmus. Its charm stems from its very architecture – small, cobble-stone streets, medieval churches and wooden houses from the 19th century. The street of Nessebur are a perfect place for a walk, with a view of the many street fountains, churches and museums, where one can discover the city’s history. The churches themselves are a strange and attractive mixture of Slav and Greek orthodox architecture.

Nessebur has many comfortable places, at which you can stay. Some of them are even in big old houses from the previous century. Plus, the town has to offer a wide range of restaurants, taverns and cafes.

Nessebur Museum Town

Nessebur is located on a small peninsula and is in close proximity to the resort Sunny Beach. The old part of the town is considered the oldest town in Europe. It is a place where one can still feel the atmosphere of the many ages before us – Thracians, Hellenes, Romans, Slavs, Byzantines and Bulgarians.
Perhaps the most attractive thing in the old town is the many churches – the Old Bishop's Residence in an early Byzantine style (from the 4th – 5th century), the New Bishops Residence (St. Stefan), which contains valuable murals from the 12th century, the Christ Pantocrator and Aliturgetos churches (13th -14th century).
Another beautiful sight are the houses from the Revival period in Bulgaria, built with stone foundations and wooden eaves.
