Pamporovo tourist info and hotels

The international ski resort of Pamporovo lies only fifteen kilometers away from Smolian and 70 km south of the Plovdiv city. It is situated at 1650 meters elevation at the foot of peak Snejanka (1926 meters). During the winter it is a heaven for skiers and during the summer - for the mountain climbers and hikers.
Numerous paths, suitable for mountain hiking, start from the road, which connecs the town of Smolyan to the resort and lead to the peaks of Murgavets, Turluka, Chernoka, Nevyastata and Orlitsite peak. In this area one will discover some stunning views and striking panoramas. Usually, thanks to the great climatic conditions, the snow here covers the ski-runs from December to April.
The specific combination of natural conditions makes the resort suitable for a exciting vacation in both summer and winter - the large spruce forests, picturesque meadows, weird rocky forms (the Orpheus rock etc.), majestic high peaks - Snejanka (1925), Murgavetz (1858), Orleto etc. The Rhodopes Mountain where Pamporovo is situated is composed of marble that drains the water and dries the whole region; the hill has a humpbacked form and is very open so the air is always fresh here.
The climate here is Mediterranean with annual average temperature of 8o C, with an average of 270 sunny days and about 150 days of the year are with great snow cover.
There are several hotels in Pamporovo which accommodate around 1500 people and numerous places of entertainment; additionally, companies from the entire country own recreational facilities which host other 4000 people.

There are eight ski slopes of all difficulty levels, with altitudes ranging between 1926 and 1450 meters, run down the Snezhanka Peak.
The lift network (5 chair-lifts and 13 tows) includes total 10 kilometers length and service capacity of about 8500 people per hour.
About one hundred and twenty experienced instructors train the ski lovers in five levels of Alpine skiing and two level cross-country courses. Also the ski school offers a day kindergarten for children aged 5-8 open from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm. The mountain rescue service of course works non-stop, taking care of the visitors’ safety. Travellers often visit and the nearby resort of Chepelare, which is only on eleven kilometers away.
